Auntie’s Day is a time to thank, honor aunties by relation (ABR), aunties by choice (ABC), and godmothers. While all aunts receive celebration, this event is especially poignant to one in five American women who identify as PANKs®, or Professional Aunts, No Kids.
PANKs self-identify as childless or childfree and bond with at least one child by relation or friendship.The Power of the PANK, a study released in November 2012 revealed that childless aunts are a sizeable segment of younger women with disposable income. These women are a dynamic influence, and a digitally-connected lifestyle who are extraordinarily generous with the children in their lives. Twenty-three million American women are PANKs. They spend $9 billion per year on gifts for children not their own.
